Spain’s King Felipe VI To Visit White House In September


The king and queen of Spain will head to Washington later this year for their first official visit to the White House.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will arrive in the U.S. on September 14 and meet with President Barack Obama the next day. The king and queen will also visit Miami and travel to St. Augustine, Florida. The White House says the visit reinforces strong and lasting ties between Americans and Spaniards.

18 year old boy dies in hospital after inhaling laughing gas

An 18-year-old has died after he is thought to have taken laughing gas at a party.
Emergency services called to the scene in Bexleyheath, southeast London, found the young victim had gone into cardiac arrest.
The teenager was taken to hospital after collapsing in the street at around 11.20pm on Saturday but died two hours later.

THISDAY learnt that the policeman (yet to be identified) used his assigned AK-47 rifle and shot the cab driver who was conveying a sick female passenger to Muhammadu Sunusi hospital in Yankaba. The sick female passenger also died instantly in the encounter.

Kaduna state Govt provides police with 77 hilux vans

Kaduna State Government has procured 77 Hilux vehicles to assist the police in maintaining law and order in the state.
Governor Nasiru El-Rufa’i, who disclosed this during a working visit to the Police Command Headquarters in Kaduna, also pledged to provide 50 motorcycles to the command.

Eight people were killed and around 100 needed hospital treatment after inhaling chlorine gas following an explosion at a water treatment plant in Jos, a city in central Nigeria, the state government said on Saturday.

The proposed meeting of ex-militant leaders in the Niger Delta scheduled to hold in Yenagoa on Saturday (today) has been cancelled by the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson.
He said the meeting had been postponed but did not state when it would be re-convened.
